Insulation Jobsite Efficiency: Ending the Work Day with Proper Preparation
Arriving back at the company shop after a hard day of work, the last thing you want to do is to prepare for the next day. However, it is the preparation for the next day which can make things go much smoother! An efficient company will work in such a way to offset problems the next workday by taking some time at the end of the workday.
Here are some things to consider when you pull into the company shop at the end of the day:
- Report mechanical issues with equipment. Don’t start the next day with unreported mechanical issues. You want to be able to make a strategic plan on serving your customers in a timely manner.
- Clean out the truck/trailer. Take a few minutes to toss garbage, clean machine filters and give the truck/trailer a good sweeping.
- Check your tools. Make sure you are charging up drills, head lamps and remotes so they can recharge overnight.
- If using water on-site, make sure that you protect your pumps and hoses from freezing temps at night.
- Check the job schedule and load up the truck/trailer for the next day’s jobs.
- Make sure vehicles and generators are fueled up and ready to roll the next day.
These tips not only safe your company time, they may prevent damage (frozen pumps) and possibly fires (hot generators covered with material).
