Upgrading from Manual Wall Spray Insulation Recovery to a Hopper Extension Vacuum Hood with a CM2400
For a few years, Dale Troyer (Troyer Insulation, Three Rivers, Michigan) was using a Krendl 575 portable insulation machine for doing attics and wall spray. He asked us what a good next step would be. He has a large commercial attic to blow and wanted to make his cellulose wall spray more of an automatic recycling process.
Manually recycling back to a machine is hard work. You need to …
- Shovel the recycling material into a garbage can and carry it out to the machine.
- Mix the recycled material with some dry and dump into the machine.
- Have excellent communication between the sprayer and the one at the machine.
Since Dale already had experience with the manual recovery, he was ready to add a standard insulation vacuum to his equipment. We recommended a CM2400 with a 5hp Positive Displacement blower for the large attics he was starting to insulation. Also, he got a hopper extension with vacuum ports. Combined with the CoolVac23, he now has a much easier time recycling.
When we arrived on the job site in Sturgis, Michigan, I watched his crew for the first 10 minutes to see how they were doing. We recommended a different size tip to lower the amount of water they were using and dialed up the water pressure. We also taught the person loading the hopper how to gauge how much recycling material was being brought into the machine and how much dry to add.
This crew did remarkably well and finished a larger home within the day, including blowing the attic spaces.
Thank you, Dale, for your business and the opportunity to spend the day with you and your crew!
