CM1500 Wall Spray Cellulose, Afton, Wyoming: A trip back into history
History repeats itself and is passed to the next generation! Richard Steed and Derek Mortenson just purchased a CM1500 insulation machine with a dual blower. This portable machine fits their needs and is a perfect entry-point for those who want to install wall spray cellulose (also, fiberglass and mineral wool, too).
What makes this purchase so unique is that Richard’s father (Dick) is one of the founders of the wall spray method which dates to 1976! His father and uncle worked together to make cellulose using farm equipment and then sprayed it into walls. Their setup was very crude, but highly effective! They have an exposed wall in his house of the original wall spray. It looks very different from today, but there is no gapping or sagging!
Dick eventually moved on to other ventures. Richard and Derek have picked up the proverbial mantel and is now bringing wall spray insulation back to the Wyoming area. As an upstart business, Richard called and asked about options for getting into the wall spray business. We recommended the CM1500 which is a portable machine. Here’s why:
Their CM1500 has two blowers: When recycling damp material back into a machine, it is important to have an extra volume of air to push the material. This allows the machine to have 150 feet of hose for longer reaches, if needed.
The CM1500 is portable: You don’t always have to be 150 feet away from your machine. If the house allows, you can carry the machine to the various levels, keeping it close by. The reason you want it close by is because carrying the recycle back to the machine is a chore.
The CM1500 is very productive. The machine can spray quite fast. As Richard and Derek crew got the machine and technique fine-tuned, they were able to feed the machine as fast as they could. The machine can outwork a crew!
We were thankful, not just for the purchase, but for the opportunity to witness, first-hand, an original wall spray application and meet one of the founders. We enjoyed our training and visit with Richard and look forward to him carrying the mantel forward, successfully!
