Owens-Corning Corporation

Owens-Corning probably has the easiest to blow fiberglass on the market. They have developed a cube material that breaks up very easily and conditions well.

What about Owens Corning?

The 1930s was a time of innovations in various aspects of building construction and materials. Corning Glass partnered with Owens-Illinois to produce the first ever line of glass fiber insulation in the US market. The year was 1935 and by 1938, the Owens-Corning Fiberglas ® Corporation has been a leading and major manufacturer of fiberglass insulation.

The company that started out manufacturing glass fiber insulation grew into a mega corporation that has invented and produced some of today’s leading brands in home and commercial insulation. Fiberglas™, PINK and the cartoon character Pink Panther are all legal trademarks of Owens-Corning insulation materials.

The company has gone global and in its quest to make residential, commercial and industrial spaces more cost effective, energy efficient and sustainable, the company has varying insulation products to suit all types of applications. Owens-Corning is the leading manufacturer of fiberglass materials for composites.

Owens-Corning residential products are specified – meaning there are insulation products for the different parts and uses of a home.  Insulation products are also qualified as either residential or commercial.

For the bedroom is the Quietzone® Noise Control Solutions are Acoustic Batts designed to control the transmission of noise between rooms.  The material absorbs vibration in the cavity walls assuring noise control within the room. This insulation material is also best for application in different parts of the home because it has been tested to lessen noise transmission by 4 up to 10 decibels.

The PINK Fiberglas™ is Owens-Corning Version of loose-fill insulation. This type of insulation is best for both new and existing cavity walls and for areas that are quite hard to reach.  There are other brands and materials of loose-fill insulation but PINK Fiberglas™ is non-corrosive and non-combustible so it is definitely advantageous than other brands. In line with this type of insulation, Owens-Corning has a special machine for applying PINK Fiberglas™.

While any machine can easily handle Owens-Corning fiberglass, they have developed their own Insulation Blowing Machine, the AtticCat®. This machine only processes AtticCat® Expanding Blown-In PINK Fiberglas™.

Owens-Corning has insulation materials and applications for commercial use too. Some of these products are Rigid Form Insulation, Insulating Sheathing, Fanfold DWB, Extruded Polystyrene and PINKCORE™.
