Insulation Job Site Efficiency: Keep Some Blower and Vacuum Hoses Connected
Probably the biggest timewaster on a job site is dealing with hoses. Installing connectors, using hose clamps, and taping everything up can take a lot of time. To save time during setup and teardown, leave as many hoses connected as possible. Here are some suggestions:
Leave connectors connected. Hose reels are helpful. You can leave all the hoses connected and not deal with separating, clamping and taping on every job start. Consider getting a hose reel to save time. If you don’t have a hose reel, consider installing a connector on the end of each hose and leaving it connected. Use strong duct tape.
Leave reducers connected to hose sections that always need reducers. When installing a reducer to dense pack hose or hoses that always require a reducer, consider using a strong duct tape and clamp to keep that reducer attached to the hose. There is no value in separating reducers at the end of a job.
It is the simple things that help save a lot of time on a job. Good hose management can help you trim off costly time.
